The Mess of How To

As I gaze out into the internet for writer’s work, as advertised in

  • Facebook
  • Substack
  • Medium
  • X

I find myself overwhelmed by all of these things they call “microproducts” that seem to sell like hotcakes on the internet and they are all dedicated to

FIXING SOMEONE ELSE’S PROBLEM.

Sigh. Yeah, that does sell and even in the 80s, there were a TON of books on that and that’s true even today. For example, back in 1999, I went to a bookstore in the mall one day and I saw numerous copies of books telling everyone what to do about Y2K. There was even one book entitled It’s Already Too Late.

Wow. I don’t have any data on the sales figures, but the fact that it was on the shelves indicates that book publishers thought it would sell.. because…. it fixed a problem… or something.

I thought about jumping into the market myself, but..it occurred to me that I was missing the point of why I was writing in the first place. I am not writing to fix something for someone else. I am writing as a means of self expression and means of personal freedom.

So with that, I am continuing to focus on my whimsical, traumatic and odd tales that come straight from my imagination.
