I started keeping a journal in 1994 using a paper journal that I had received as a gift. To this date, I have already lost count of the number of journals I have. Here are the benefits that I know about
Journaling allows me to put my thoughts and feelings out in paper and do so safely without the judgemental of online postings. Once I have finished an entry, I can take good analytical look at it and see the issues with my thinking.
Handwriting takes more effort, in that it requires more fine motor skills as well as being able to “encode” thoughts in the brain into a written form. While this can also be done through typing but, Handwriting adds a deeper element to the exercise.
